FREE TRANSPORT BENEFICIARIES:

* Children under 6 years old (up to a height of 1.2 meters it is not necessary to present to the bus driver any supporting document),

* Soldiers and contracted soldiers of the National Guard of Cyprus, who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present to the Issuer their military identity card or the certificate from the Institution in which they serve an alternative service, which states the date of termination of their term of office,

* Retirees who are beneficiaries of the Low Income Retirement Aid Plan who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present to the Issuer the Card of the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance, provided that they do not receive any aid for road passenger transport services on regular services as part of the Aid Plan,

* The recipient and his / her family members (adults and children over 6 years old) who receives Public Aid from the Welfare Office, who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket offices if they present to the Issuer a card or a certificate from the Welfare Office, provided that that they do not receive any aid for road passenger transport on a regular basis as part of the Public Aid,

* Disabled people in wheelchairs who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present a card or an appropriate certificate to the Issuer,

* Blind people (which may be accompanied by a guide dog) who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present a card or an appropriate certificate to the Issuer,

* Escorts of blind people or disabled people in wheelchairs (in the presence of accompanying persons) who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present a card or an appropriate certificate to the Issuer,

* European Disability Card beneficiaries and their attendants, if the European Disability Card is marked with an "A" (Assistant) which indicates the need for an assistant who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points if they present a card or an appropriate certificate to the Issuer,

* Special groups agreed between the Contracting Authority and the Concessionaire who carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticketing points if they present a card or an appropriate certificate to the Issuer,

* Students of Pre-primary and Primary Public Education who are transported to buses that run student routes.

50% DISCOUNT BENEFICIARIES:

* Students attending Universities or other Higher Education Institutions in Cyprus or abroad.

* People aged 6 to 18:
- up to the age of 12 (up to a height of 1.2 meters) it is not necessary to present to the bus driver any supporting document,
- from 13 up to 18 years old, provided that they use a personalized smart card which can be obtained from ticket sales points by presenting to the Issuer a national or a student ID card, or a passport, or a certificate of attendance from a Secondary Education School in Cyprus.

Students attending Secondary Education Schools in Cyprus, can buy and upload to their personalized smart card a monthly student ticket of €5.00 or an annual ticket of €30.00, which will be valid only in the geographical area where it is issued.

* Beneficiaries of Social Welfare in Cyprus which carry a personalized smart card which they can obtain from ticket sales points by presenting to the Issuer their Cypriot Social Card or Social Card Beneficiary Certificate from the Ministry of Labor, Welfare and Social Insurance of Cyprus.

TICKETS (OSEA AND PANCYPRIAN) FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING UNIVERSITIES, COLLAGES AND OTHER SCHOOLS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN CYPRUS OR ABROAD

"OSEA" tickets are valid on all bus routes operated by OSEA.
"PANCYPRIAN" tickets are valid: a) on all bus routes operated by OSEA, b) on all bus routes within all the other Districts of non-occupied Cyprus (Companies: CPT - Larnaca, CPT - Nicosia, EMEL - Limassol, OSYPA - Paphos) and c) on all bus routes of Intercity Buses Cyprus.

50% DISCOUNT TO STUDENTS ATTENDING UNIVERSITIES, COLLAGES AND OTHER SCHOOLS OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN CYPRUS OR ABROAD ON ALL BUS FARES, PROVIDED THAT THEY ISSUE A PERSONALISED MOTION SMART CARD

The card can be issued at the two offices of OSEA in Paralimni, as long as the students present one of the 4 following supporting documents:

1) a student ID card from an approved (Public or Private) University in Cyprus (see a list of these approved Universities below),
or 2) a student ID card from an approved (Public) School of Higher Education in Cyprus (see a list of these approved Schools below),
or 3) a student ID card from a University / Collage / School of Higher Education that is linked to the European Youth Card (for students) which has been issued either by the Cyprus Youth Organization or by a competent organization of another European state.
or 4) a European Youth Card (for students) which has been issued either by the Cyprus Youth Organization or by a competent organization of another European state.

The approved (Public or Private) Universities of Cyprus from which student ID cards are accepted for the issuance of a Motion Discount Personalized Smart Card are the following:

1. University of Cyprus
2. Cyprus University of Technology (CUT)
3. Open University of Cyprus (OUC)
4. Frederick University
5. European University Cyprus
6. University of Nicosia
7. Neapolis University Pafos
8. University of Central Lancashire Cyprus (UCLan)
9. Philips University
10. American University of Cyprus (AUCY)
11. University of Limassol
12. American University of Beirut - Mediterrano Pafos

The approved (Public) Higher Education Schools of Cyprus from which student ID cards are accepted for the issuance of a Motion Discount Personalized Smart Card are the following:

1. The Police Academy of Cyprus (Nicosia)
2. The Cyprus Forestry Collage
3. Mediterranean Institute of Management (Nicosia)
4. Post Secondary Institutes of Vocational Education and Training
5. The School for Tourist Guides

Registration certificates from the listed approved Universities and Higher Education Schools will also be accepted, until the end of October of each academic year, for the issuance of a Motion Discount Personalized Smart Card. From November and onwards registration certificates will not be accepted.

DIGITAL student ID cards from the listed approved Universities and Higher Education Schools in Cyprus, as well as DIGITAL European Youth Cards (for students) are also accepted for the issuance of a Motion Discount Personalized Smart Card.

A Student ID card is considered valid if it includes the following:

  • recent photo of the holder
  • the name of the University or School of Higher Education that has issued it
  • start and end date of the current academic year (eg 2022-2023)

TICKETS FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING SECONDARY EDUCATION SCHOOLS IN CYPRUS:

Following the Ministerial Decision dated 27 August 2025, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works (MTCW) informs the passenger public that in collaboration with the companies providing public service for internal road passenger transport, the following measures have been decided, within the framework of the government social policy:
 
For the period from 1 September 2025 to 31 August 2027, the monthly student fare is set at €5, with a government subsidy of €17. The annual student fare is set at €30, with a government subsidy of €190 for each student.
 
It is clarified that for the issuance of the annual ticket, students must obtain a personalized "Motion" card. For the issuance of the "Motion" card, a certificate of attendance and/or student ID for the current school year must be presented.
 
From 1 September 2025 and onwards, all children of large families and families of five who attend Public Secondary and Technical Education are exempt from paying the fee. A large family identity card or a certificate of a five-member family must be presented.
 
Beneficiaries of the student fee category also include minor children who are under the care and guardianship of the Social Welfare Services (YKE) and do not attend school. The amount of €5 (monthly fee) and €30 (annual fee) will be paid by the YKE, while the amounts of €17 and €190, respectively, will be subsidized by the (MTCW). It is understood that a relevant certificate from the YKE must be presented.
 
From the same date, a monthly or annual ticket of zero value will be issued for needy students and children of Minimum Guaranteed Income (MEI) beneficiaries.
 
Finally, during the first week of the new school year, i.e. until 12 September 2025, students will be transported free of charge, in order to provide the necessary time for the issuance of personalized “Motion” cards. The issuance process will begin on September 1, 2025 and the public is invited to take the necessary steps to promptly obtain the “Motion” card.
 
It is clarified that from 13 September 2025 and onwards, the transportation of students without a valid fare will not be allowed and no additional extension will be granted.
These measures are expected to benefit all students who fall into the above categories to upgrade the use of public passenger transport and to attract more students to utilize this service.

THE FOLLOWING TICKETS ARE ALSO ACCEPTED IN OSEA BUSES:

* On OSEA bus routes we also accept Pancyprian tickets and Pancyprian Motion Cards which are issued by the other bus companies in non-occupied Cyprus (Companies: CPT - Larnaca, CPT - Nicosia, EMEL - Limassol, OSYPA - Paphos, Cyprus Intercity Buses).

IMPOSITION OF A FINE IF A VALID TICKET IS NOT PRESENTED:

Passengers that fail to show a valid ticket, in the event of inspection by OSEA inspectors or by inspectors of the Contracting Authority (the Department of Road Transport), will have to pay a fine of €150 on the spot. The fine will be paid directly to the inspector and a receipt will be issued.
